Linklaters achieves 20% female partnership for first time

first_imgMagic circle firm Linklaters has surpassed its gender targets for the second year in a row with females making up 33% of the latest partner cohort.The firm said today 33 lawyers have been promoted to partner this year, of whom 11 are women. Most of the new female partners come from outside London, however. In the capital one of the 11 promoted lawyers is female.After the promotions take effect on 1 May, the firm says its overall partnership will be 20% female for the first time.In 2014, the firm pledged that in future at least 30% of new partners would be female. However, in 2017, just 19% of appointments went to women. The firm improved on that last year when 10 of 27 new partners were women (37%).Charlie Jacobs, senior partner and chairman, said: ‘The global nature of our 2019 partnership election demonstrates the firm’s truly global reach as well as breadth and depth of knowledge across multiple practice areas.‘I am pleased to see that for the second year running as senior partner we have beaten our gender target again in electing at least 30% new female partners and there is still much more we are working on to build on this success.’last_img
