Daly, a dual county minor last year, hit five of their first-half points with one each from Paul Ging and Killeen.Daly nudged Clonad early in the second half and a point from Paul Ging doubled their lead with a good point from play moments later.Daly swapped points with Meagher and Ray Bowe to keep two between them but Rathdowney-Errill were back on level terms with ten minutes remaining thanks to Willie Delaney and Meagher’s fifth point of the evening. But Clonad responded well with two points from Daly and Killeen’s goal to put them five up. Rathdowney-Errill rallied and although Colin Delaney pulled off one great save, Mark Treacy found the back of the net with a brilliant shot to bring it back to two.Rathdowney-Errill continued to apply pressure but couldn’t force another score and Clonad made sure of it late on with another point from Daly.SCORERS – Clonad: PJ Daly 0-11, Ray Killeen 1-1, Paul Ging 0-2, Brian Murphy 0-1; Rathdowney-Errill: Enda Meagher 0-5, Mark Treacy 1-0, Sean Delaney 0-2, Eoin Bourke 0-2, Ray Bowe 0-2, Willie Delaney 0-1CLONAD: Colin Delaney; Peter Ging, Sean Egan, Emmet Ging; Dean Delaney, Gary Hogan, James Ging; John Noonan, Shane Cahill; Michael Kerr, PJ Daly, John Burke; Ray Killeen, Paul Ging, Brian Murphy.
